Teaching Astronomy | 3 Tips for Starting Your Astronomy Course

3 tips for teaching ✨Astronomy✨ for a great start to the year!

🌟1️🌟

1. The πŸ†“ Mission Patch activity at the start of the course is my fave way to learn about my students. Students tend to go deeper than the surface-level surveys and it is so great to learn about the goals and dreams ♥️

2. The Observing the Night Sky Doodle Note addresses some common misconceptions about Astronomy and gets students to be more observant while stargazing. Bonus: if you put the students into visibly random groups (I like to deal cards that have their names in them) then students can read to one another. They get to know each other a little bit more (and it’s WAY less awkward when the teacher makes the groups) and you can circulate and listen to their reading as a bit of a diagnostic assessment very early in the course.

 3. You’re going to want to do awesome activities in such an awesome course. The Mission Control Planning and Pacing Guide has a bunch of activities to make this course out of this world πŸ˜‰ 🌟 πŸ”— Click here for the πŸ†“ Planning and Pacing guide 🌟
